Visa Requirements

Available Services & Requirements

Tourist Visa

For international visitors intending to travel to Nigeria for leisure, tourism, or visiting family.

✓ International passport valid for at least six (6) months.

✓ Duly completed visa application form.

✓ Two (2) recent passport-sized photographs.

✓ A letter of invitation from the host in Nigeria, indicating full address and accepting immigration responsibility, or evidence of adequate financial means.

✓ International Certificate of Vaccination (Yellow Fever Card).

✓ Evidence of payment of the applicable visa fee.

Business Visa

Designed for corporate executives, investors, and business representatives visiting Nigeria.

✓ International passport valid for at least six (6) months.

✓ Duly completed visa application form.

✓ Two (2) recent passport-sized photographs.

✓ A letter of invitation from a registered company or organization in Nigeria accepting full immigration responsibility for the applicant.

✓ International Certificate of Vaccination (Yellow Fever Card).

✓ Evidence of payment of the applicable visa fee.

Temporary Work Permit (TWP)

For expatriates visiting Nigeria for short-term technical assignments or work.

✓ International passport valid for at least six (6) months with at least two blank pages.

✓ Duly completed visa application form.

✓ Two (2) recent passport-sized photographs.

✓ Original approval for a Temporary Work Permit issued by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and signed by the Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI).

✓ International Certificate of Vaccination (Yellow Fever Card).

✓ Evidence of payment of the applicable visa fee.

Subject to Regularization (STR) Visa

Issued to expatriates arriving in Nigeria to take up employment, researchers, and technical experts.

✓ International passport with at least six (6) months validity.

✓ Completed visa application forms in quadruplicate.

✓ Four (4) recent passport photographs.

✓ Original STR approval issued by the Nigeria Immigration Service and signed by the Comptroller-General of Immigration.

✓ Four (4) copies of the approved Expatriate Quota issued by the Federal Ministry of Interior.

✓ Four (4) copies of educational credentials and professional certificates (certified English translations where applicable).

✓ Letter of employment.

✓ Letter of acceptance of employment by the expatriate.

✓ Receipt of online payment for the visa fee.

Transit Visa

For travelers transiting through Nigeria to an onward destination outside Nigeria.

✓ International passport valid for at least six (6) months with a minimum of two blank visa pages.

✓ Two (2) recent passport photographs (preferably in colour).

✓ Completed visa application form.

✓ Copy of Identity Card or Residence Permit (for foreign nationals residing in Chad).

✓ Confirmed onward ticket to a destination outside Nigeria.

✓ Evidence of sufficient funds to cover the period of stay in Nigeria.

Social, Religious, Journalism, Medical and Sports Visa

For applicants visiting Nigeria for social, religious, journalistic, medical, or sporting events.

✓ International passport valid for at least six (6) months with at least two blank pages.

✓ Two (2) recent passport photographs (preferably in colour).

✓ Completed visa application form.

✓ Copy of Identity Card or Residence Permit (for foreign nationals residing in Chad).

✓ Return flight ticket.

✓ Letter of invitation from the relevant Nigerian host organization, including a religious body, Ministry of Information, sports organization, hospital, or other recognized institution.

✓ Where the inviter is a Nigerian citizen, the invitation letter must be accompanied by a photocopy of the data page of the inviter's Nigerian passport or Nigerian National Identity Card.

✓ Where the inviter is a non-Nigerian resident in Nigeria, the invitation letter must be accompanied by a copy of the inviter's valid Nigerian Residence Permit or Residence Certificate.

✓ Evidence of sufficient funds to cover the applicant's stay in Nigeria.

Application Workflow

Complete Online Visa Form

Fill out the official online visa application form on the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) portal.

Make Visa Fee Payment

Complete the required visa fee payment online through the NIS portal and print your payment confirmation receipt.

Book Biometric Appointment

Schedule your appointment slot on the embassy portal and print your booking slip.

Submit Physical Documents

Visit the embassy in N'Djamena on your appointment date to submit your physical passport, invitation letters, and enroll biometrics.

5 – 7 Working Days after biometric capture and physical document submission.
